Riigi Kinnisvara AS was announced the winner of the idea contest for the volume planning for the Patarei and Lennusadam area

On 23 October 2007, the authors of the winning entries to the international design contest for the volumetric planning of the Patarei and Lennusadam Port area were announced at the Ministry of Culture. By the deadline, 15 designs had been received during the course of the design contest, of which 14 were qualified by a special committee. From the entries complying with the terms and conditions of the contest, the main committee selected the 10 best and confirmed their ranking .

The winner was the entry entitled “Kolm õuna” by Ivar Lubjak and Sverre Laanjärv, who received the first prize in the amount of EEK 385 000.

Second prize was awarded to the entry entitled “Põhi” by Tõnu Laanemäe, Jaak-Adam Looveer and Toomas Paaver, co-authored by Indrek Järve and Lauri Saar, who received the second prize in the amount of EEK 220 000.

Third prize was awarded to the entry entitled “Kompass” by Ott Kadarik and Villem Tomiste, who received the third prize in the amount of EEK 165 000.

Fourth prize was awarded to the entry entitled “Icon” by Audrius Ambrasas, Mindaugas Reklaitis, Mantas Olšauskas and Jurgis Jurevičius, who received a runner up prize in the amount of EEK 85 000.

Fifth prize was awarded to the entry named "Vermona” by Raivo Kotov, Andrus Kõresaar, Margit Kärner, Indrek Mikk, Tõnis Savi and Ülo-Tarmo Stöör, who received a runner up prize in the amount of EEK 85 000.

The design contest for the volumetric planning of the Patarei and Lennusadam Port area was announced on 23 May of this year by Riigi Kinnisvara AS in cooperation with the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Culture and the Union of Estonian Architects.

The aim of the international design contest was to find the best planned and volumetric solution for the area, which would deal with the surface, the placement of utilities and the design of construction works. The result of the design contest will be a design being found that will serve as the future basis for the planning of the area and buildings. The contest area is located in Tallinn on the beach area on the territory of and near the Patarei barracks and the water craft hangars. The possible construction area planned with the design contest covers 4 hectares, the contest area 14 hectares and the functionally related research area is approximately 50 hectares.

The main committee of the design contest for the volumetric planning of the Patarei and Lennusadam Port area includes the chairman of the committee, Andrus Väärnõu, members of the committee, Ülar Mark, Margus Sarapuu, Laila Põdra, Arvo Rikkinen, Andres Alver, Andres Levald, Jüri Soolep and Panu Lehtovuori. The expert group includes Boris Dubovik, Urmas Dresen and Aivar Lenk.
